Introducing Take-Out Thursday, a fundraiser for local Sayward community groups.
Sayward Delivery will donate 100% of the delivery fees from October's Take-Out Thursday to the Sayward Community Health Society.
The theme this month is Pizza, Pasta and Wings. We will leave Pizza Hut in Campbell River around 4pm on Thursday, October 26th. We will deliver your take out to the Sayward Valley, the Village of Sayward, Sayward Towers, regional campgrounds and the Kelsey Bay Marina.
If this Take-Out Thursday is well received, we will plan a take out day each month that supports different community groups.
2023 has been a year of tremendous growth for Sayward Delivery, and we are incredibly grateful to our amazing customers! As we approach our first fiscal year end, we need to update our terms and conditions. This will allow us to continue providing a high level of customer service and community support.
These updates apply to all deliveries on or after June 8, 2023.
Overview of Updates
- Personal Shopping
- Invoice Due Dates
- Overdue Invoices
- Credit Card Payments
Personal Shopping
Sayward Delivery started out as a delivery service between Campbell River and Sayward for stores that offer online ordering. Our customer would place an order online with at their preferred store, and we would pick it up and deliver to Sayward.
Increasingly often, we are asked to purchase items on behalf of our customer in addition to providing delivery.
Impact to Sayward Delivery
- Purchasing goods for our customer through Sayward Delivery bank accounts increases the complexity of our bookkeeping, and the cost of our year end accountant and laywer for regulatory filing.
What is Changing
- Going forward, goods that we purchase on your behalf will be billed with a small 5% markup to offset the additional cost of providing this service.
How to Avoid Markup Fees
- Pay the retailer or restaurant directly for their goods if the option is available.
Invoice Due Dates
Sayward Delivery has been very flexible on timing when it comes to payment of services.
Impact to Sayward Delivery
- Recently we had to turn away business from a customer who wanted us to purchase and deliver goods for them. This is due to Sayward Delivery's bank account being entirely used up with purchases on behalf of our customers who had not paid yet for their goods or delivery.
What is Changing
- Residential invoices are now due once the delivery is complete and the invoice has been sent. If the invoice remains unpaid after 3 days, a small 5% fee will be charged to help offset the cost of using credit when cash flow is unexpectedly reduced due to non-payment.
- Business and Government invoices are due once the delivery is complete. Unpaid invoices after 14 days will incur a 5% late fee to help offset the cost of using credit when cash flow is unexpectedly reduced due to non-payment.
How to Avoid Late Fees
- Pay invoices upon receipt, or at least before they are late.
Overdue Invoices
If you have an unpaid invoice from Sayward Delivery and request an additional delivery, we may request payment of the outstanding invoice prior to providing additional services.
Credit Card Payments
Sayward Delivery accepts credit card payments.
Impact to Sayward Delivery
- Providing credit card payments costs Sayward Delivery monthly fees and transaction fees.
- When we purchase goods on behalf of a customer and get paid by credit card, the actual amount we receive is less than the amount we have paid. In other words, we lose money on that transaction.
What is Changing
- Credit card payments will be subject to a small 5% fee to offset the cost.
How to Avoid Credit Card Fees
- Pay by email money transfer.
- Pay by cash.
Summary
- The changes listed above will allow us to keep our delivery prices steady despite rising gas prices. Delivery of a small item (such as a prescription) from Campbell River to Sayward is still only $10!
- If you read this post and think it is about you specifically, rest assured that it is not. These updates are a result of a mind blowing amount of purchases and deliveries in a short period of time that simply overwhelmed our financial reserves and prevented us from serving even more customers.
- If you have a specific need that does not align with the above changes, please contact us with your request and we will do our best to work with you.
